RAILWAY TIE MADE OF REPROCESSED RUBBER (VERSIONS) AND METHOD OF ITS MANUFACTURE Russian patent published in 2005 - IPC

Abstract RU 2245410 C2

FIELD: railway engineering; reprocessed rubber ties.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to method of rail fastening, namely, to railway ties and methods of their production. Proposed railway tie of reprocessed rubber is made by extrusion of mixture of crumb of natural and cured regenerated rubber with size of grains not exceeding 590 mcm at weight ratio of regenerated natural rubber and regenerated cured rubber of 10-35% and 65-90%, respectively, with temperature of product at outlet being 116-188oC. According to second design version, tie consists of extrusion product made of mixture of rubber crumb of regenerated natural rubber and regenerated cured rubber at weight ratio of 10-35% of regenerated natural rubber and 65-90% of regenerated cured rubber. Proposed method of production includes the following operations: getting of natural and regenerated cured rubber crumb and mixing of 10-35% of natural rubber crumb by weight with 65-90% of regenerated cured rubber crumb by weight and addition of polymer to rubber mixture in amount of 0.0-0.5% of total weight of mixture and grinding the mixture at temperatures of 116-188oC to obtain intermediate product, extrusion of said intermediate product at temperatures between 116 and 188oC to get extrusion product of definite width and height, cutting said extrusion product into lengths of required size to get tie. Invention increases service life of tie, decreases its weight, makes it possible for tie to withstand higher compression loads without deformation changes after removal of load.

EFFECT: reduced cost of tie replacement procedure.
