FIELD: medicine; medical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: method involves reducing intraocular hypertension in eyes injured by glaucoma by discharging excessive aqueous humor from the anterior chamber into Schlemm's canal. Postoperative patency is supported by means of permanent bypass device connecting the canal to the anterior chamber as a result of operation. The bypass device allows the aqueous humor to flow to Schlemm's canal in one or two directions.
EFFECT: enhanced effectiveness in establishing normal physiological drainage from the anterior chamber.
