METHOD OF INTRODUCTION OF REAGENTS INTO MELT, MIXING MELT OF METAL AND DEVICE FOR REALIZATION OF THIS METHOD Russian patent published in 2005 - IPC

FIELD: ferrous metallurgy; refining of melts.

SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes placing the reagents in groups of layers in container whose structural members are made from components of melt, submerging the container with reagents into melt by means of vertical support at simultaneous mixing of melt by means of jet and vortex flows formed by vertical reciprocating motion of mixer and reactive gas-and-liquid jets of reagent mixture escaping from container in tangential directions; they are formed by pulses of kinetic energy due to successive melting and evaporating of groups of reagent layers. Device proposed for realization of this method includes jet-and-vortex mixer which is concentrically located on vertical support and is provided with container whose structural members are made from metal of melt. Container is loaded with reagents in form of coaxial groups of circular elements; each element is made from definite reagent. One inner circular element of group is made from reagent whose evaporating point is below melting point of melt. Container with reagents is placed in case provided with end disks embracing the container at the top and at the bottom. Lower end disk is provided with guide vanes converting the radial motion of mixture jets into tangential motion; said vanes are secured over peripheral part of disk plate for forming passages for escape of reagents in form of gas-and-liquid jets acting on melt.

EFFECT: enhanced efficiency; reduced consumption of reagents; improved quality of metal due to enhanced assimilation of reagents and effective mixing of melt.
