FIELD: metal working, cutting tools.
SUBSTANCE: cutting tip is made on base of polygon with supporting surface, cutting edges and protrusions on front surface in the form of chip breaking member freely mounted in body of tip with possibility of rotation relative to its front surface. In order to increase useful life period of tip due to lowering temperature and cutting effort and due to increasing capability of chip breaking, on surface of chip breaking member there are annular protrusions or recesses. Recesses may be in the form of eccentric or shaped grooves.
EFFECT: increased useful life period of tip.
