FIELD: manufacture of fittings; shutting-off fluid medium supply lines.
SUBSTANCE: proposed ball valve includes external protective body with gate mounted inside it. Gate is engageable with one or several seats for sealing-up protective body and gate. Spherical sections of gate located behind seats are provided with deformable zones formed by means of grooves. Said grooves are made on surfaces of gate corresponding to spherical sections. Grooves pass along circumferential part of opposite spherical sections of gate and have curvilinear or rectilinear base.
EFFECT: enhanced tightness of seal at high pressures; enhanced operational reliability.
