FIELD: measuring engineering.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises locating the object to be positioned with the use of a capacitor pickup, which is made of movable member mounted on the object, and two unmovable members, which are spaced and made of sections. The inlet of each section is made such that the measured value which corresponds to the inlet of the section is recorded approximately at a distance of 1/4 of the section length, whereas the outlet value is recorded approximately at a distance of 3/4 of the section length. The parameters and position of the unmovable members are chosen in such a manner that each position of the object corresponds uniquely to the single value of capacity between the movable member and the member closest to it. When the object moves, the value of capacity is determined in each position of the object between the movable member and one of the nearest unmovable members. The value of capacity determines the co-ordinate of the object and can be obtained from the calibration curve. The value of displacement is determined as a difference between the co-ordinates of the intermediate or end and initial position of the object.
EFFECT: reduced cost and enhanced reliability of locating.
