FIELD: production of high-temperature ceramic materials on base of aluminum titanate by sol-gel method; manufacture of automobiles; mechanical engineering; manufacture of composite materials for space engineering and aeronautical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method of production aluminum titanate by sol-gel procedure includes mixing aluminum alcoxide and titanium isobutoxide taken at stoichiometric ratios in water-alcohol solvent till obtaining gel followed by drying and two-stage heat treatment. Used as aluminum alcoxide is solution of diethoxy ethyl aluminum in toluene; used as solvent is aqueous solution of butyl alcohol. Mixing is performed in argon medium under action ultrasound at frequency of 30-70 Hz and temperature of 25-75 C. Two-stage heat treatment is performed in the following mode: 1st stage-at temperature of 600-700 C continued for 2-2.5h;2nd stage-at temperature of 1280-1300 C continued for 2-2.5 h. Use of aluminum titanate as matrix of composite materials for manufacture of articles and coats increases working temperature, reduced mass of articles made from these materials.
EFFECT: enhanced efficiency; reduced mass of articles.
