FIELD: electrical engineering; generator shaft systems using variable-speed synchronous generators.
SUBSTANCE: proposed frequency converter characterized in absence of movable parts has uncontrolled rectifier whose input functions as device input, ripple reactor, thyristor inverter, first, second, and third filter reactors, reactive power source in the form of banks of capacitors; connected to frequency converter input through second filter reactors are ac terminals of first double-quadrant switching converter and device output is connected through third filter reactors to ac terminals of second double-quadrant switching converter; dc terminals of these converters are connected to capacitor.
EFFECT: reduced cost and size at high overload capacity; enhanced reliability and facilitated servicing of device.
