METHOD FOR DIRECTION FINDING OF RADIO SIGNALS AND MULTI-CHANNEL DIRECTION FINDER Russian patent published in 2005 - IPC

Abstract RU 2253877 C2

FIELD: radio engineering, applicable for detection and direction finding of sources of radio emission.

SUBSTANCE: the antenna system is formed of three identical components forming an annular equidistant array, the spectral characteristics of signals of each channel are obtained simultaneously for all channels, the primary evaluations of azimuths are determined as arc contangents of the ratios of the measured direction cosines, the azimuths of signals are defined more exactly according to the positions of the maxima of the sums of the squares of complex angular spectra. The positive effect is attained due to the fact that in a multi-channel direction finder the antenna array is made as a three-component equidistant annular one with similar components arranged around the edges of the ring in such a way that the distance between the adjacent components is less than a half of the length of the shortest radio wave of the operating range, the receiver, analog-to-digital converter, Fourier transformation unit are made as three-channel ones, use is made of a mutual spectra computer, summary-difference spectra computer, storages of components of mutual spectra and characteristics of summary-difference spectra, adder of summary-difference spectra, computer of specific values of bearings.

EFFECT: enhanced accuracy of processing of information on bearing at an essential mutual influence of the antenna components and mast.
