FIELD: foundry.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of melting cast iron in arc furnace with acidic lining; introducing gypsum in metal charge of furnace in quantity consisting 0.1 - 0.8% of melt metal volume; pouring metal to intermediate ladle and then to casting ladles; filling molds (in which coolers are placed) with melt cast iron at temperature 1360 - 1420°C. Addition of gypsum to metal charge provides good assimilation of its sulfur. Produced casting feature enhanced rigidity and increased chilling depth at side of cooler. In central part casting is not chilled.
EFFECT: improved capability of castings to mechanical working.
