FIELD: plastic working of metals, possibly manufacture of heads of socket wrenches of alloy high-strength steels.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of cutting off blank, chamfering it and pressing out cavities; in third shaping position pressing out by means of upper punch shaped cavity of final size having alternating lengthwise protrusions and recesses mutually joined along radiuses; in fourth position pressing out square cross-section cavity by means of punch having size of its square side consisting 1.03 - 1.1 of size of square side of ready part cavity when blank rests by bottom of its cavity pressed out beforehand upon punch of similar shaped cross section. Dimensions of diameters of inscribed and described circles of shaped contour of punch consist 0.94 -0.98 of minimum final size of said diameters of shaped cavity. In description of invention there are condition to be satisfied for pressing out shaped cavity in fourth position.
EFFECT: enhanced quality, improved strength of tool.
