FIELD: working materials by cutting, namely working out-of-round surfaces with sine profile.

SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps imparting to tool in the form of cutter rotation cutting motion, translation feed motion and radial motion according to law determined by means of follower. In order to enhance accuracy and quality of worked surface due to simplified contour of follower, tool is based by means of transmission link such as lever on surface of follower and radial motion of tool is realized according to given law. Apparatus includes housing with follower, shaft on which lever with probe is mounted, tool joined with follower through lever and probe. Working surface of follower is in the form of stationary flat surface inclined relative to tool axis. Tool is mounted in rectilinear guide.
