FIELD: mechanical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: pipe coupling comprises two half rings whose ends are provided with loops, round rods inserted into the loops, and threaded members that tighten the half rings. The half rings are made of oriented fiber glass. The loops are provided with openings coaxial to the openings in the round rods. The threaded members, e.g. stud-bolts, pass through the openings in the round rods and loops. The method comprises forming two half ring shells with connecting members at their ends made of loops which receive round rods and tightening threaded members. The ring shells are made by winding roving on spaced round rods. The shells obtained are removed from the mandrel, the roving fibers are drawn apart from each other and placed on a mandrel imitating the pipe section to be repaired, and the finished article is then removed.

EFFECT: enhanced reliability of coupling.
