FIELD: mechanical engineering; testing facilities.
SUBSTANCE: according to proposed method, thermal deformations on local sections of side surface of piston at preset operating conditions of engine are determined. Profile of side surface of piston is corrected to value of deformation. Temperature of local sections of side surface of cylindrical piston with initial radius is determined at operation of engine under load which is 1.1-1.3 times greater than nominal load and using obtained results, distribution of local thermal deformations on side surface of piston is determined after which temperature correction of profile of piston side surface is carried out by setting radius of its each local section.
EFFECT: improved reliability.
