FIELD: plasma emission electronics; electronic vacuum technology for heat treatment of outer surfaces of parts, including cylindrical ones, by accelerated electron beam.
SUBSTANCE: proposed plasma electron source incorporating plasma emitter generating radially converging ribbon beam and adjustable slit whose output aperture is variable between 1 and 5 mm has anode made in the form of cylindrical toroid with perforated side surface and two L-section removable rings with ferromagnetic inserts press-fitted onto its edges to organize adjustable emission slit in the form of truncated cone. Cathode made in the form of rectangular-section supporting ring is concentrically disposed inside anode; ferromagnetic rods are deepened on inner side of cathode over generating line through half of their length, and protruding cubic parts of rods divide anode space into Penning discharge cells. Installed in slots provided in outer side surface of cathode are paired permanent magnets that function to build up cross magnetic fields within each cell whose lines of force periodically vary their direction from cell to cell. Cylindrical toroid accommodates coaxially mounted extracting electrode in the form of truncated cone whose small base faces emission slit and rods have intercommunicating holes for feeding working gas to discharge cells from gas dispenser.
EFFECT: enhanced efficiency and reliability, enlarged functional capabilities of emitter in treatment of cylindrical parts.
