FIELD: cryogenic equipment, particularly for separating or purifying gases or liquids to clean cryogenic gas from fine contaminants and also adapted for liquefied natural gas production plants.

SUBSTANCE: method involves passing cryogenic gas flow through a set of parallel cylindrical filtering members formed of multilayer filtering material; performing separation and coalescence of fine droplets on current-conducting, fine-pored filtering layer surface applied on coarse-poured draining layer, wherein droplet and solid particle separation rate U is equal to 10 - 100 cm/s; forcing liquid filtrate to back surface of coarse-poured draining layer defined in flow direction; withdrawing liquid filtrate in draining system with the provision of rate between gas flow velocity V along coarse-pored surface at filtering member outlet and separation rate U V/U<20, wherein U is rate of fine cryoagent droplet and solid particle separation from cryogenic gas and is equal to Q/S, here Q is volume flow rate of cryogenic gas through filtering member having surface area S of fine-pored filtering layer. Filtering member recovery from solid particle filtrate is performed if gas flow restriction of filtering members is increased up to ΔP=(0.01-0.5)× Po, where Po is external mechanical damage pressure of filtering member. The recovery is carried out by periodical and subsequent heating thereof by electric current to create steam and gas flow of cryoagent droplets emitting from fine-pored filtering layer surface.

EFFECT: increased separation efficiency and time of continuous plant operation.
