FIELD: method of carbonization of ammoniated brine in production of soda ash by ammonia method.

SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes interaction of ammoniated and partially carbonized brine with carbon dioxide; carbon dioxide fed to absorption zone at rate of 7000-9000 m3/h and at rate of 5000-7700 m3/h to cooling zone; ratio of absorption zone to cooling zone is equal to 1.232-1.239:1000. Carbonization column where carbonization of ammoniated and partially carbonized brine is performed consists of absorption and cooling zones; it is also provided with absorption and cooling barrels, branch pipes for introducing ammoniated and partially carbonized brine and carbon dioxide and branch pipes for discharge of sodium bicarbonate suspension and waste gas. Cooling zone consists of one pair of cooling barrels; other barrels are alternated with absorption ones; upper flange of last cooling barrel is mounted at distance of 0.446-0.448 m of height of column from its base; carbon dioxide inlet branch pipe in absorption zone is mounted at distance of 1.17 m from upper flange of last cooling barrel; height of absorption zone is no less than 55.19% of total height of column.

EFFECT: increased productivity; improved quality of sodium bicarbonate crystals.
