FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in the production of calcined soda. The method of producing sodium bicarbonate involves dividing ammonated and partially carbonised brine into several streams while feeding into a settling carbonating column. Brine coming from a pre-carbonating column is split into three streams. The first stream at temperature 42-44°C and containing 89 kg/m3 ammonia is fed into the settling carbonating column into the top ring. The second stream is further saturated with ammonia to content of 90 kg/m3 and carbon dioxide gas to content 84 kg/m3 and fed into the nucleation zone, 2.4 m lower than the first stream at temperature 62-65 °C. The third stream is further saturated with ammonia to content 90 kg/m3 and carbon dioxide gas to content 88 kg/m3 and, in amount of 50% of total consumption, fed 1.6 m lower than the second stream at temperature 62-65 °C. The settling carbonating column is fitted with additional pipes for inlet of said streams.

EFFECT: invention enables to increase the size of the obtained crystals of sodium bicarbonate, reduce power consumption with further calcinations of sodium bicarbonate.
