FIELD: process engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of soda ash by ammoniacal method. Proposed method comprises saturating the brine with ammonia and carbon dioxide from vapor-gas mix in absorption column. Note here that said brine and said mix are fed in forward flow to column top section. Column consists of single cocurrent absorption absorber divided into two zones, distribution plates being arranged above each said zone. Absorption column consists of hollow and refrigeration iron barrels, brine and vapor-gas mix feed branch pipes, ammoniated brine and gas discharge branch pipes, one cocurrent absorber comprising top and bottom refrigeration zones formed by refrigeration barrels, and distribution plates arranged above each refrigeration zone. Heights of top and bottom refrigeration zones are related as 42:58-58:42.

EFFECT: higher efficiency and carbon dioxide absorption, reduced hydraulic friction.
