FIELD: organic chemistry, chemical technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention proposes a method for preparing nitromethane. Method involves interaction of sodium monochloroacetate solution with sodium nitrite solution in an aqueous medium at enhanced temperature for two stages. At the first stage pH value is maintained to be equal 3.5-4.5 and at the second stage nitromethane aqueous solution is subjected for direct distillation and separation of nitromethane in separator. Invention provides reducing energy consumptions due to carrying out two stages in a single equipment, availability of raw and increased yield of nitromethane.
EFFECT: improved preparing method.
