FIELD: investigating or analyzing materials by the use of optical means, particularly to control sealing container rims.

SUBSTANCE: control device to control container rim 22 has central axis 25 and opened neck surrounded with area 36 of container surface to be sealed facing container axis. Device comprises light emission source 44 installed to direct collimated linearly shaped beam 46 to the zone 36 so that light beam falls onto said area from both sides relative container axis. Light emission source has the longest dimension defined transversely to container axis and the shortest dimension defined tangentially to container axis. Device also has light sensor 52 arranged in common plane with above axis and adapted to receive parts of the beam 46, lens means 70 to direct light energy to light sensor and means 60 to detect level change in area of container surface to be sealed. Lens means 70 directs light energy reflected from area 36 to light sensor 52 only in planes parallel to above common plane.

EFFECT: possibility to detect inadmissible change in goods.
