SUBSTANCE: method includes launch of guided missile, receipt and focusing on photo-detector of emission of background-targeting environment with useful signal source, determining coordinates of guided missile and generating control commands for transmitting to missile, prior to launch of missile programmed change in time of possible change of geometric dimensions of useful signal source image is set. In each time moment of determining coordinates of guided missile after focusing of emission of background targeting environment on photo-detector current linear dimensions of images of all emission sources are determined, which are present in field of view of objective. Standard linear dimensions of useful signal source image are calculated, received current linear dimensions of image of each source are compared to calculated standard linear dimensions of image of useful signal source and coordinates of emission source are selected, current linear dimensions of which are equal to standard or are different from them for value, not exceeding set possible change value. Guiding system of guided missile containing serially connected objective and photo-detector of emission, serially connected coordinates selection block and commands forming block additionally inserted are block for calculating standard dimensions of useful signal source and serially connected selection device and comparison device. Photo-detector of emission is made on basis of photo-sensitive matrix-type device, output of emission photo-detector is connected to input of selection device, second input of comparison device is connected to output of block for calculating standard linear dimensions of useful signal source, and output s connected to coordinates selection block.

EFFECT: higher quality, higher reliability, higher resistance to interference, simplified construction.
