FIELD: metallurgy; production of blister copper and zinc from their oxides.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes melting of oxidized charge containing copper and zinc oxides for obtaining slag containing copper oxide and primary zinc oxide. Copper oxide is reduced in 1st melting unit by zinc, thus forming secondary zinc oxide in slag phase. Primary and secondary zinc oxides are reduced in 2nd melting unit by iron which is preliminarily molten in 2nd melting unit; they are set in rotation and heat losses for endothermic reaction of zinc oxide reduction are compensated for. Slag from 2nd melting unit is drained after complete consumption of iron melt for reduction of zinc oxides and last portion of iron is molten in it. Gas phase from melting unit is removed to condenser for forming molten zinc; one part of molten zinc is poured for forming marketed ingots and other part is directed for reduction of copper from oxide.
EFFECT: increased extraction of zinc at copper smeltery.
