FIELD: metallurgy; powder metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of production of iron alloys from iron-containing waste. Proposed method includes preparation of mixture of powders and self-propagating high-temperature synthesis. According to proposed method, 74-76 mass % of iron scale is mixed with aluminium powder to get thermit mixture. In process of mixing, titanium carbide is added in amount of 15-20% of mass of thermit mixture. Amount of aluminium powder is equal to difference in mass of thermit mixture and iron scale.
EFFECT: increased hardness.
