FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to powder metallurgy, particularly to methods of producing doped iron alloys from iron-containing production wastes. The method of producing a doped iron alloy involves mixing iron dross in amount of 70-80 wt % and aluminium powder in amount of 15-20 wt % to obtain a thermite mixture, and melting the thermite mixture via self-propagating high-temperature synthesis. While stirring, the following is added to the obtained thermite mixture: titanium carbide in amount of 10-12% of the weight of the thermite mixture, chromium diboride in amount of 3-5% of the weight of the thermite mixture, chromium in amount of 5-10% of the weight of the thermite mixture and silicobarium foundry alloy FS65Ba4 in amount of 2-3% of the weight of the thermite mixture.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain doped alloys with predetermined compositions and required properties, used to increase resistance of a cutting tool, as material for cutters, and low costs on producing said alloys.
