METHOD FOR DETECTING PROLIFERATIVE ALTERATIONS OF MULLER GLIAL CELLS Russian patent published in 2005 - IPC

FIELD: medicine, ophthalmology.

SUBSTANCE: one should perform electroretinographic testing at registering both total ERG and rhythmic ERG, calculate amplitudes of ERG b-wave from the peak of a-wave up to that of b-wave and low-frequency RERG for flashing frequency of 81-2 Hz and by the ratio of b-wave amplitude to that of R3 subcomponent of low-frequency RERG one should calculate glial index KG. At its value being below 4.5 U one should detect the development of proliferative alterations of Muller cells, at its value being 4.5-5.5 U one should detect the risk in development of Muller cells proliferation. The method enables to detect noninvasively the development of proliferative alterations in Muller glial cells that increases efficiency in predicting the character and severity of pathological retinal alterations at pathological alterations of different genesis.

EFFECT: higher efficiency of detection.
