FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves stimulating an eye with a series of light flashes with gradually reducing intervals between the stimuli from 100 to 20 ms. Sequences of flashes are repeated with 100 ms interval. Each wave amplitude is measured on the so built electroretinogram composed of a series of waves having stimulation frequency varying from 10 to 50 Hz (as swinging electroretinogram). Calculated values are compared with the reference ones. Drop of 25% of at least one of amplitudes at low frequencies, conclusions are drawn concerning availability and degree of changes in scotopic retina system mainly in its peripheral regions. High frequencies being the case, conclusions are drawn concerning availability and degree of changes in photopic retina system mainly in its central regions. Swinging electroretinogram wave amplitude dynamics distortion being observed when compared to normal case, conclusions are drawn concerning response production as scotopic and photopic system activity.
