FIELD: railway transport.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to reconstruction of railways with change of track gauge. Method of changing track from one gauge to another, for instance, from narrow gauge to broad gauge and vice versa, comes to the following: changing is carried out without interruptions of operation of railway in preparatory period for changing over trains from one gauge to the other by replacing two-line track skeleton by four-line or three-line with correction of train diagram to pass work trains. To change over from one track gauge to the other, movement of freight and passenger trains is stopped for designed time with preliminary bringing the rolling stock to stations equipped for re-placing of car bogies by those corresponding to new track gauge. Railways are changed from narrow gauge of 1067 mm, to standard gauge of 1520 mm.

EFFECT: possibility of carrying out main jobs for changing track gauges without stopping freight and passenger carriages.
