FIELD: portable fuel cells affording reliable gas supply due to effective use of limited space.

SUBSTANCE: proposed fuel element is characterized in that it has proton conducting film; flat electrode on hydrogen end and flat electrode on oxygen end disposed so that proton conducting film is placed in-between; fuel supply means 13 designed for fuel supply to hydrogen-end electrode; and flat current collectors 16, 17 held in tight contact with oxygen-end electrodes and incorporating gas transfer parts such as parts of holes enabling communication between oxygen-end electrodes and atmosphere. Since oxygen-end electrode communicates with atmosphere, oxygen can be supplied to gas generators 11 and 12 without reducing oxygen partial pressure in air.

EFFECT: ability of producing air flow dispensing with large space.
