FIELD: antenna engineering; antennas and microwave mirror antenna feeds.
SUBSTANCE: proposed horn antenna has horn, rectangular waveguide section whose side walls carry waveguide filter, and short-circuiting plate, all arranged in tandem. Novelty is introduction of absorbing flange disposed over perimeter of horn aperture that has substrate and radio-absorbing coating made in the form of wedges with opening angle between them α = 0.61λ/a in-between and bisecting line of this opening angle directed toward maximum of back-scattering pattern main lobe. Proportions for evaluating opening angle of absorbing flange in horizontal (E) and vertical (H) planes are given in description of invention.
EFFECT: reduced levels of effective scattering surface in wide spectrum of viewing angles.
