FIELD: industrial electronics.

SUBSTANCE: proposed surge voltage protection process that can be used to protect dc power consumers against surge noise occurring in supply mains during switching of its loads and in emergency situations, such as lightning discharges, and to limit charge current of smoothing and storage capacitors in secondary semiconductor power supplies to prevent damage to power consumers by switching and induced surges, as well as to limit starting currents when voltage is applied or increased in steps includes periodic switching of pulse-carrying load supply circuit with aid of contactless switch and voltage smoothing down with aid of LC filter; in addition, it includes shaping of signals proportional to voltage integral across reactor coil and first derivative with respect to output voltage time; as soon as their sum reaches minimal and maximal values, contactless switch is changed over.

EFFECT: enhanced efficiency.
