METHOD FOR PREVENTING SHORT-TERM SAMPLING WITH DEVICE FILLED BY MEANS OF CAPILLARY FORCE ACTION OR CAPILLARY FLOW Russian patent published in 2005 - IPC

Abstract RU 2264861 C2

FIELD: medical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: device has preliminary chamber (12) having internal surface and the first volume and exerting the first capillary force action, measuring chamber (14) communicating to the preliminary chamber via liquid medium. The measuring chamber has internal surface and the second volume and exerting the second capillary force action. The first volume is not less than the second one. Difference between the capillary forces as differential capillary force is enough for initiating liquid flow from preliminary chamber (12) and filling measuring chamber (14). The internal surface of preliminary chamber (12) has the first irregularity, the first real surface area and the first geometrical surface area. The internal surface of measuring chamber (14) has the second irregularity, the second real surface area and the second geometrical surface area. Irregularity is defined as ratio of real surface area to geometrical one. The differential capillary force is determined from difference between preliminary chamber height and measuring chamber height and difference between the second and the first surface irregularity. Testing strip having said device is available for carrying out glucose monitoring. Method for filling the measuring device liquid sample and method for manufacturing the device are given.

EFFECT: enhanced effectiveness in producing clear signal showing that required liquid sample quantity is taken.
