METHOD FOR REPAIRING ACOUSTIC ORIENTATION AND ITS EVALUATION IN PATIENTS POSSESSING COCHLEAR IMPLANT Russian patent published in 2005 - IPC

Abstract RU 2265426 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: method involves emitting acoustic and speech signals of various and analyzing response data. Patients having single cochlear implant are trained for skills in localizing sound source from hearing beginning from producing triangular clicks emitted by two speaker devices with amplitude ratio equal to 100:10. Next to it, signal amplitude change pattern is set dynamically in two channels from 100% to 10% with signal amplitude changes done in inversely proportional manner. Then, localization skills are transferred to speech signals and training exercises are given by sending the signals to two speaker devices retaining amplitude proportion equal to 100:10. The acoustic and speech signals are produced with the same amplitude changes and fixed localization not earlier than in three weeks after the first usage of cochlear implant and later with frequency not less than twice a year during the first year and once a year in the following period. The number of the right answers and patient response time are determined. Analysis results are compared to those earlier received from given patient. The number of the right answers and patient response rate statistically significantly growing, rehabilitation dynamics is considered to be satisfactory. The number of the right answers not exceeding 58-60%, acoustic orientation rehabilitation is considered to be incomplete.

EFFECT: enhanced effectiveness of treatment.
