FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the medicine, namely to audiology and neurology, in particular to experimental psychology and physiology of sensory systems. A method is proposed for screening assessment of a person's hearing ability to distinguish the position of sound sources by distance by assessing thresholds by distance and duration of sound, which includes methods of forming virtual sound sources using two speakers, where an acoustic effect on a person is carried out and software processing of his or her responses is immediately performed interactively; the thresholds are assessed in terms of distance and duration by step-by-step change in the parameters of stationary, approaching and receding sound images; the assessment of the distance of sound images at distances of no more than 6 m is carried out; an adaptive method for assessing thresholds is applied.
EFFECT: invention provides the development of a method for screening assessment of a person's ability to distinguish the position of sound sources by distance, which provides a solution to the problem of quantitative determination of thresholds of auditory sensitivity by distance and duration in a short period of time of the order of 1.5-2 minutes for one threshold.
