FIELD: chemistry of polymers, chemical technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for preparing grafted polymers from propylene polymer-base materials. Method involves irradiation of propylene polymer-base material in the absence of oxygen, addition to the irradiated material the regulated amount of oxygen in the range from 0.004% to 15% (vol.) at 40-140°C to obtain material based on oxidized propylene polymer comprising above 1 mmole of the total peroxide per 1 kg of propylene polymer-base material. Then material based on oxidized propylene polymer is heated optionally in non-oxidizing atmosphere and treated in non-oxidizing atmosphere by using at least one grafting monomer able to polymerize by free-radical mechanism in the presence of at least one additive regulating the molecular mass of by-side chains of polymerizing grafting monomer followed by deactivation of residual free radicals in preparing material and removing unreacted vinyl monomer from the material. The additive is taken among: (a) at least one polymerization inhibitor based on derivative of hydroxylamine and (b) at least one thio-, nitro- or halogen-substituted aliphatic or aromatic, or aliphatic or aromatic derivative of phosphine. The claimed method allows regulating the molecular mass of polypropylene grafted copolymers with by-side chains comprising of polymerized monomers. Also, method provides preparing low-molecular by-side chains without negative effect on the total physical properties of the grafted copolymer.
EFFECT: improved preparing method.
