FIELD: electrical engineering; cable lines.
SUBSTANCE: cable assembly has cable member and outer shell member disposed around fiber-optic cable member for sliding. According to preferable alternative, outer shell member is woven part made of low-friction synthetic fibers, such as polyester, nylon, Teflon, polyester ether ketone, or polyvinylidene fluoride. Outer shell member functions as sleeve of at least same length as cable member. When in use, one end of outer shell carrying cable member can be connected to drawing cord or band passed along cable conduit. Tension force is applied to drawing cord on opposite end and in this way outer shell member and cable member are drawn through cable conduit. Outer shell takes most part of drawing load and cable member proper takes shell-to-cable frictional force only.
EFFECT: enhanced cable assembly drawing force and speed, reduced friction, ability of dispensing with lubricants in drawing process.
