FIELD: agricultural engineering, in particular, equipment used in feed preparing machines.

SUBSTANCE: root grinder has conveyor with drive and set of parallel knives arranged above conveyor and fixed on carcass. Knives are inclined at an angle of 30-42 deg to conveyor surface to define wedge with an angle of 70-135 deg in horizontal plane. Middle knife is inclined at an angle of 30 deg to conveyor surface. Other knives are positioned at uniformly increasing angle of inclination to conveyor surface, from middle knife to lateral knives. Horizontal knife is fixed at lower ends of knives in parallel with conveyor surface, said horizontal knife being made in the form of wedge having angle of 70-135 deg. Apex of horizontal knife is oriented in the direction of advancement of conveyor. Conveyor surface is made in the form of huller.

EFFECT: reduced consumption of power for grinding of product owing to placement of knives with increasing angle of inclination to conveyor surface and increased homogeneity of ground product owing to arrangement of horizontal knife at lower ends of other knives.
