FIELD: chemical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: heat treatment is accomplished through microwave irradiation at frequency within 915 MHz to 2450 MHz and temperature ranging from ambient temperature to 1600°C in continuous or batch mode and in presence of inert additive selected from group including carbides, nitrides, and borides in amounts from 1 to 100 g per 1 kg glass or natural material. Relevant apparatus is comprised of microwave oven having outside housing provided with cover and internal body, and at least one double-emission microwave generator producing power 0.1 to 1 kW per 1 kg glass or natural material being treated within space between outside housing and internal body. The latter accommodates internal container.
EFFECT: enabled reliable and rapid heating over the total temperature range.
