FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to neutron protection for a thermonuclear reactor. Protection includes cemented carbide or boride containing binder and filler. Filler contains carbide or boride compound particles of tungsten, tantalum and/or hafnium, wherein the side of cemented carbide or boride facing the plasma contains smaller fraction of neutron-absorbing material than the side of cemented carbide or boride that does not face the plasma.
EFFECT: technical result is stability of neutron protection for compact thermonuclear reactor to large stored energies both in system of magnets, and in plasma, which tends to decrease mega-ampere currents to zero for several thousandth of millisecond, leading to forced instability (breakdown).
