FIELD: metallurgy, in particular treatment of metal articles with melt components diffusing into surface thereof.
SUBSTANCE: claimed method includes formation of protective layer on ferrous metal articles using silicium-containing aluminum-based melt. Melt of present invention contains (mass %) aluminum 50-92.5 and silicium 17.5-50.0. Melt temperature is maintained from 920 to 940°C.
EFFECT: method for manufacturing of homogenous wear and corrosion resistant layer with increased hardness on surface of complex-shape parts without of its geometrical sizes alteration.
