FIELD: organic chemistry, chemical technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for preparing ethanolamines, in particular, to preparing monoethanolamine (MEA) and diethanolamine (DEA). Method involves interaction of ethylene oxide and the mole excess of anhydrous ammonia under enhanced temperature and pressure in system comprising mixing and replacing reactors and with distillation off and recovery of MEA and excess of ammonia. Conversion in the mixing reactor is maintained at the level 50-85%, and recycle of MEA is carried out in limits 0.01-1.5 mole per 1 mole of ethylene oxide and recycle is distributed into mixing and replacing reactors. Method provides reducing degree of formation triethanolamine as a by-side product in the selective synthesis of MEA and DEA as end products and without increasing the mole excess of ammonia.
