FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an improved method of producing a mixture of ethanolamines with predominant content of diethanolamine from ammonia and ethylene oxide in the presence of water. The process is carried out in a displacement reactor with ratio of ammonia to ethylene oxide equal to 2.9-3.3:1, at temperature 40-80°C while recycling monoethanol amine at atmospheric pressure in the presence of CO2, which is added simultaneously with aqueous ammonium solution, with content of CO2 in the aqueous ammonium solution equal to 40-80 g/l, with subsequent distillation and return of ammonia, CO2 and water into the reactor. Monoethanol amine is recycled in the zone of the displacement reactor with 60-80% conversion of ethylene oxide.
EFFECT: method increases specific output of the reactor unit and diethanol amine selectivity.
