FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an improved of synthesis of substituted amino alcohols, specifically to synthesis of methyl diethanolamine (MDEA), used for purifying natural and industrial gases from hydrogen sulphide, in production of polyurethanes, as starting material in production of surfactants. The target compound is obtained by reacting ethylene oxide (EO) and methylamine (MA) at high temperature and pressure in a system which includes a mixing reactor and a desorber-maturing reactor, with distillation and recycling excess methylamine and intermediate product - methyl monoethanolamine (MMEA). The initial ethylene oxide and methylamine in molar ratio 1:1.5-2.0 are fed into the mixing reactor, where ethylene oxide conversion is maintained at 80-95% at temperature 71-85°C. Complete conversion of ethylene oxide takes place in the desorber-maturing reactor at temperature 125-145°C.
EFFECT: method increases specific output of the reactor unit while retaining high selectivity on methyl diethanolamine.
