SUBSTANCE: proposed three-phase double-layer lap winding with 2p = 10 in z = 108 slots and coils grouped in row 4 4 3 4 3 repeated 6 times is made of 6p = 30 coil groups numbered 1G through 30G at mean slot pitch of coils yc = 9. Novelty is that in order to reduce differential dissipation σd in m' = six-band fractional-pitch (q = 18/5) lap winding, coil groups 1G and 2G in first-grouping coil groups 1G through 5G have turn numbers (1 - x)wc in first coil of coil group 1G and in fourth coil of coil group 2G, and coil groups 3G and 5G have turn numbers (1 + x)wc in intermediate coil at turn number wc in remaining coil groups with 2wc turns in each slot. Mentioned distribution of coils with unequal turn number is repeated in each next grouping at x = 0.28.
EFFECT: reduced differential dissipation in fractional-pitch lap winding.
