FIELD: powder metallurgy, namely manufacture of hard alloys for making tools, possibly manufacture of cutting tools for working hard-to-form steels and alloys.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of synthesis of complex carbonitride Ti1-xWxC1-xNy where x = 0.1 - 0.7; y = 0.1 - 0.5 of finely divided mixture of tungsten carbide, titanium carbide and titanium nitride in nitrogen atmosphere at 1800 -1900°C; preparing initial charge containing 8 - 13 mass % of cobalt; tungsten carbide and complex carbonitride at relation 1 : 3 - 3 :1 respectively. Plasticized charge is pressed, dried and sintered in vacuum at 1420 - 1440°C.
EFFECT: improved mechanical strength at the same hardness value of alloy.
