FIELD: packing equipment, particularly lids or covers for rigid or semi-rigid containers.

SUBSTANCE: container comprises body with upwardly opened neck defining peripheral edge, lid for body closing, hinged connection unit mounted on the lid and adapted to rotate the lid relative the body about axis of rotation between the first, closed, position in which the lid seals the neck from top thereof and the second, opened, position, in which the lid is turned upwards and is spaced from container neck. The container has springing member made of elastomeric material and extending in transversal direction relative the axis of rotation. The first and the second fixing means are also provided. The first fixing means is located on the body and adapted to fix the first end of springing member. The second fixing means is connected to lid and adapted to retain the second, opposite end of the springing member. The springing member has area of maximal thickness located in center between the first and the second ends thereof. The springing member thickness decreases in opposite directions from central area thereof characterized by maximal thickness. When the lid is installed in its opened position the springing member is substantially straightened and prevents lid from angular rotation in closed position. During lid rotation in closed position the springing member is folded in two in central area having maximal thickness by shape memory ability and provides spring-loading of the springing member, which urges the springing member in straightened shape. Container also has corresponding latching means adapted to retain the lid in its closed position and then to release the lid. During lid releasing the springing member urges the lid into opened position and retains the lid in the opened position. Springing member is also disclosed.
