FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: proposed exciter designed for regulating field current of dc consist traction machines during electric braking is connected through input diodes to parts of braking resistors where voltage is built up across them as braking current starts flowing through these resistors. This voltage is supplied through input LC filter and transistor to series-connected field windings of traction machines. Current flowing through field windings is regulated by feeding control pulses to transistor gate. Initial field current is supplied from storage battery. Exciter is reliable in operation and its operating frequency range makes it possible to prevent its interference with operation of locomotive signaling devices.
EFFECT: enhanced reliability.
