FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: proposed exciter designed to regulate field current in traction machines of DC consist in electric braking mode is connected through input diodes to brake resistor parts across which voltage is set up when they carry current. This voltage is applied to series-connected field windings of traction machine through input LC filter and transistor. Field current is regulated by feeding control pulses to transistor gate. At low braking currents exciter is supplied with power from AC rectifier. So, at rated values of braking force exciter is supplied with power from brake resistors and at low braking currents, from AC voltage rectifier. In case of voltage failure across contact system exciter is fed for first 2-3 s during turn-on period of brake from storage battery.
EFFECT: ability of exciting traction machines under all operating conditions of locomotive.
