FIELD: polymerization processes.
SUBSTANCE: objective of invention is developing improved method for solid-phase polymerization of low-molecular weight prepolymer of dicarboxylic acid dihydroxyester requiring less solid-phase polymerization time and allowing use lesser amounts of metal catalyst, wherein metal is the one less environmentally injurious than commonly present tin or germanium. Acceleration is achieved by adding, before polymerization, catalytic quantities of zinc p-toluenesulfonate to prepolymer melt, which contains essentially no tin or germanium.
EFFECT: accelerated polymerization process and improved environmental condition.
