FIELD: industrial fishing, industrial and scientific hydro-acoustics, can be used for possible determining of fish composition in concentrations in natural environment during performing of netting-acoustic measurements of fish resources during fishing, during research of fishing efficiency of nets and acoustic characteristics of fish in accordance to their type and size in environment.

SUBSTANCE: method includes measuring force of fish target and angles of their positions relatively to vertical axis in acoustic beam of hydro-acoustic device antenna, selection of dimensional ranges of fish length, sorting of fish target forces by ranges of target forces, appropriate for selected linear dimensional range, simultaneously into two data arrays in accordance to two equations characterizing dependence of target force from fish length, while processing of fish target force is performed on any two central portions of acoustic beam, from one central portion of acoustic beam in accordance to one equation of dependence of fish target force from fish length, from another central portion of acoustic beam in accordance to another equation of dependence of fish target force from fish length, on basis of information about forces of fish target for each size range simultaneously dimensional compositions of any two types of fish are determined and distributions of their target forces.
